How Much Luggage Can I Take On A Private Jet?

What can come onboard?

Chartering a private jet means you are not limited to typical commercial luggage allowances; instead, pets are welcomed (usually at no extra cost), and full-size liquids are allowed too. Depending on the aircraft type, the larger jets in particular grant more space, which also allows room for items such as large sporting equipment like skis, snowboards, and golf clubs.

Turboprop Luggage Allowance

One of the most advanced, lavish and adaptable turboprop jet known as Pilatus PC-12 NGX offers generous cabin space. Accommodating 6 passengers with increased baggage capacity; this private aircraft ensures sufficient leg and headroom in cabin, for the most comfortable inflight experience. As well as offering 9,34 m³ cabin volume and 1,13 m³ luggage compartment volume, which can be accessed during the flight due to being situated by the rear of the aircraft. Although the available space is dependent on the selected seating configuration, a typical 8 seat arrangement will grant enough room for 8 suitcases and 5 carry-on bags.

Very Light and Light Jet Luggage Allowance

Light jets, such as the Cessna Citation CJ2+, typically seats 6 passengers with a luggage capacity of approximately 6 suitcases and 3 carry-on in total. At full capacity in the cabin, the club arrangement and folding side tables allows each passenger enough space for a wheeled bag/suitcase and one personal carry-on, making it a practical allowance for short business trips or weekends away.

Midsize Jet Luggage Allowance

An average mid-size jet like the Cessna Citation Sovereign is the most appreciated of it’s aircraft type. With luxurious interior, and generous cabin space, it typically seats up to 8 passengers, and possesses enough luggage allowance for up to 8 suitcases, at least 4 carry-on items and extra personal items too. The over seven meters long cabin ensures larger items such as golf clubs and skis can be easily accommodated if necessary. This sufficient amount of space and double-club seating, makes the Cessna Citation Sovereign one of the most sociable and functional mid-size jets to travel in.

Super Midsize Jet Luggage Allowance

Super-midsize jets such as the Bombardier Challenger 350 can seat up to 9 passengers, acquiring a luggage capacity of approximately 8 suitcases and 6 carry-on bags. The stand-up cabin offers impressive headroom and is considerably more spacious compared to multiple rivals.

Large Jet Luggage Allowance

Typically seating up to a maximum of 10 passengers, the Dassault Falcon 2000S large jet offers a comfortable, stand-up cabin with plenty of space. In Club 4 arrangement, the cabin can host 10 passengers with 10 suitcases and 8 carry-on items.

Global Jet Luggage Allowance

The Gulfstream G650 global jet has enough room to accommodate up to 13 passengers. It’s substantial cabin is arranged of three separate seating areas, comfortably accommodating passengers in lavish recliner sofas. In addition to this, the jet allocates generous space in both the cabin and in the hold, so there is even room for bigger items such as sporting equipment. In terms of luggage capacity, there is enough space for up to 14 suitcases and 14 pieces of hand luggage, making it a suitable option for long-haul flights.

Private Airliner Luggage Capacity

The luxurious VIP Airliner also known as the Airbus ACJ319 provides vast floor space and flexible cabin configuration. This is due to multiple partitions which enable 6 individual areas to be constructed. Dependent on the individual aircraft’s configuration, each separate zone can host up to 19 passengers and can consist of lounges, bedrooms and dining areas; taking your inflight comfort to new heights. This makes the Airbus ACJ319 an exceptional aircraft for large parties wanting to travel long-distance in extreme comfort and opulence. In terms of luggage capacity, the spacious cabin can hold up to 20 suitcases and at least 10 carry-on bags.

Do you have to ‘check in’ luggage when flying on a private jet?

Much like flying commercially, your luggage and personal items may be scanned prior to boarding. However, there are commonly no queues, so ‘checking in’ is effortless and time-efficient compared to the standard process before a commercial flight. Less time is spent in tedious baggage halls, waiting for luggage amongst others, instead more time can be spent enjoying some of the worlds finest private jet terminals, or reducing travel time between your two desired locations.

Can you access your luggage from the cabin?

As a result of passengers and luggage being located on the same level, this means that you are allowed access to your belongings during the flight. This is most commonly found on larger private jets as there is greater storage for luggage.
